These are short intensive, small audience workshops using Zoom Webinar and aim to ‘get into everyone’s details’ rather than being a two and half hour talkfest. Treasurer Freydenberg produced an indicative press release couple of week’s ago aiming to curb the influence of activist and vested investor groups influencing the giant superannuation funds. The industry funds were predictably unhappy with Australian Super boss Ian Silk saying “…it’s a solution in search of a problem”. He may be right. But it’s indicative of the growing power of the industry funds which will inevitably become a focus for new inquiries and potentially their own undoing…
